Global Warming, Ho No!

I do believe in global warming and think that it is at least partially due to human activities. I mean how can we expect our world to stay the same when we keep drilling for oil, wasting electricity, messing with our water, dumping dangerous chemicals into our earth, and filling up land fills right and left. When all these things are going on how can we expect thing like global warming not to occur. I don't know exactly how global warming is going to affect me because hear in Oregon it seems to have the opposite affect, or at least that's how i feel. It seems to me that our winters are getting colder at least after this year. that was one of the biggest snow storms i had ever seen in Oregon at least. I think that we need to start using our alternative resources that i know we have.

There are so many things that we could be using right now if the oil companies weren't shoving all this oil at us telling us its the only way. Besides oil wont always be hear and so we need to prepare now for when its gone. We have so many petroleum products in the world today that if we were to run out of it tomorrow we would not know what to do. We need to find other resources to use. Not just energy but all of our petroleum products. We have gone with out it for hundreds of years. why do we need it now, can't we find something else to use that is less harmful to our world?

We also have a huge problem with wasting electricity. Trust me i do it to. But it seems to me that every summer California is complaining about lack of water and with this lack of water lack of electricity. I don't know if this helps with global warming But it certainly can't help. Plus we have several other alternatives of how we can get our electricity so we should use them instead of using water for so many things.

We are also putting way to many chemicals into our water, which can't be good for our environment. It also can't be good for us. Hears an example. My grandfather worked at a water cleaning facility where they used chlorine to clean the water and he got trapped down there before and later on he died from cancer. So I ask you if this isn't good for use how is it good for our environment?

We are also dumping lots of dangerous chemicals into our earth. Maybe not so much here in America but in other countries where we don't have all the same rules there are many things going into the ground lake rivers and oceans that are changing our environment.

We need to find an alternative to our landfills. the waste there doesn't really decay like it's supposed to. I've seen a newspaper from like 1960 or something like that that was in a land fill and it looked almost brand new. there has to be a better way to get rid of our trash than sticking it in a land fill where it might sit for decades before completely decomposing.

Excellent post, Angel. Your point about California is a good one: California faces more severe environmental problems because there are more people concentrated there than in most other states, such as Oregon. But that does NOT mean that Oregon will not be dealing with the same problems, or similar ones, in the future, it just means that California gets the problems first. We will have to deal with our own environmental crises later unless we start facing the issues now. In Oregon, I would bet the problem will not be shortages so much as pollution, especially water and air pollution. When you allow people to burn all their trash, you get smoke, even toxic smoke. And in a rainy state like this one, especially as the summers get warmer, you get fog. Smoke plus fog equals smog. EVer been to LA?

Good points. I agree that it is our fault and that we need to do something to fix it but that will take time.
