immigration

immigration. hmm well i think there are pros and cons about immigration.

CONS- now if we kick them out we may have to pay more for food such as apples. there really isn't anyone in the United states that will work for cheaper the the minimum wage and if you are paid minimum wage just to pick apples then we are going to have to pay an arm and a leg for apples just because we insist on getting payed so much. now the immigrants will do it for way less the minimum wage so we don't have to pay very much right now.

PROS- they wont be stealing our jobs and money. we wont be wasting some of our tax money on them.

immigration is just a hard one to fix we can try all we want to keep them out but they will always get back acrossed the boarder...

Immigrants, the illegal ones.

Quite honestly, I agree with Demitri when he says he doesn't care either way, really, about illegal immigration. We have a pretty effective system as is, it seems. I dunno, Xian's step dad is from Australia and he pays taxes, but he can't vote, but if they weren't married, it would be devastating if he got deported. He's got kids! Not that he watches them, really, but that's snother thing.

Anyway, I'm not too enthusiastic about immigration. I don't... care much.

:D

Stuck in my head

Things that get stuck in my head come and go. One thing that I seem to think about quite often is pizza. More specifically Sunshine Pizza. I used to eat there every week which I would imagine is why I think about it a lot now.
I listen to the radio every day. A little Z100, Jammin 107.5 so music is usually something running through my mind. Every once in a while I get a song stuck in my head off of a movie. Usually a really dumb song like off a little kid movie or something.
I think a lot about my future. Alot more now that I'm starting to realise how close I am to finishing school. I am emancipated and recently sent in some applications for apartments, so there is alot stuck in my head about stuff relating that.

Immigrants

Honestly I go both ways with this issue. I strongly think that if someone wants to become a citizen of another country they really need to do what they can, to go about it the correct way. People shouldn't be illegal, come on do it right! Also maybe people need to work on their home-countries issues before running away.
One thing that makes me super angry, not being racist or rude but, the immagrants that come over to this country, become unhappy with their benefits, and then praise their so called great home-land or whatever... like the illegal immigrants from mexico that protest America and wave around the mexican flag... while they live here taking from our government. seriously.
America doesn't do any better with the issue. The government wants to look good so they do what they can to cover things up and give, give, give to the immigrants. Some of them drive around in nicer cars than my mother, who has been living and working here her entire life!
I have problems with the people that don't respect what they are given, and the chances they have. If they work hard and stuff then cool, I don't mind having them here. It is a place to be free, but in today's economy we all have to work hard, not just expect to be given everything.

Immigration

I think its really stupid when people say that immigrants take jobs from people here who need them when the jobs that they do are usually crappy ass jobs that no one here wants.
how many people here would want to be lets say picking up trash in parks?
probably no one but it needs to be done right?
thats why people make stupid racial comments all the time "oh let the mexicans pick up the trash" or something stupid like that you'll probably never hear someone say "oh let the white kids pick up the trash"
why beacause the wont take a job doing that
so really freakin stop say crap like that cuz most of it is pure BS

Stuck in my head

The things that are always stuck in my head are usually important at least lately. Such as school I keep thinking about all my home work I have to make up since i was gone for a week and I also have my SATs on the same day as Prom. Its really not exciting making up all that work and studding for SATs. lol I think about work and how much money I need to pay my bills every month. I do as everyone else typically get songs stuck in my head. which ones kind of depend on my mood i suppose.

Illegal Immigration

I personally do not think that there is any direct correlation between the problems in the United States and immigrants. Immigrants have to pay taxes just like all the rest of us. And it provides more competition for jobs. So I don't understand how it will affect much if anything at all. People just need to stop being so racist by saying "der tryin to dake our jobs!" because really they are just trying to make a life for their family like all the rest of us yo.

Dem Illegals

I am sort of neutral on the whole illegal alien thing, I hear different reports such as they will result in the end of America, and I also hear without them we would have a big terrible economy. I do however lean more towards the (not to be rude) "get out" side. I also think that Mexico has a bunch of problems it needs to deal with like, keeping their own people over their, and getting rid of cartels taking over borders. I just find all of this illegal alien stuff annoying and I don't think it would be so bad to have a giant wall across the Rio Grande...

Immigration

I see illegal immigrants as a problem. They take up jobs that are needed by U.S citizens which is probably the biggest issue that i have with it. If they want to work and live the the United States then they should take all the legal procedures to become a citizen and pay taxes like the rest of us. Especially right now with the economy how it is American citizens need jobs now more than ever. I do feel for alot of the immigrants that come here for better lives for themselves and their children but they need to do so legally.

Stuck in my head

I have the stupid cheer from Bring it on stuck in my head i watched it like 2 weeks ago cuz there was nothing better to watch and that stupid cheer that they do at the beging of the movie is still stuck in my head its pissing me off so much its annoying!
I also have a song by Eric Clapton stuck in my head but thats not so bad cuz its a good song =]

Illegal aliens.

I think that illegal aliens are bad for the US. I think that it is just stupid for other people to be coming into the US. I don't like it i think it is stupid and that's all i think.

Immerageration

I really don't care about Immigration, If they come here all they want is a good job. There really good at doing things that we don't want to do like. Lawn care, Clean pools, plumbers, and any other nasty jobs like that.

The only way i will care about immigration is if gets to be where we the people of the united states become a minority. If that happens i Will start calling boarder patrol on all of them.

Illegal immigrants

Illegal immigration isn't that big of an issue to me (maybe cause I was illegal for like 13 years) as long as they aren't causing a lot of trouble by doing really bad illegal unmoral things and most only want to come here because it's better living here than from whatever country they came from. I think it can benefit America because some do get jobs Americans don't want to, so that stuff gets done and I think it helps bring in diversity. The only bad thing is the money it takes to ship them back to where ever they happen to come from. The ones that do get caught I guess should get sent back unless they have good reason to have come over to the states and if they do they should be given the chance to become a citizen the right way.

immigration

I believe illegal immigrants are both good and bad for the Us. Bad in the way that they live here illegally which means they aren't affaid to be illegal and lots of the drug cartells have alot to do with them. They are good because they do the jobs that most people don't want to do like heavy labor or something icky which is good for them. But people should be registered as citizens because they live their whole life in hiding and thats sad.

Stuck in my head.

1) Quotes from that show friends. all the time its automatically Te-voed on both of the T.V.'s in my house. I love the quote that Rachel says during season 6 "They don't know we know that they know that we know" It makes me laugh. "How you doin'"
2) The song Poker face. Its repetitive rhythm make it get stuck and stay for FOREVER.
3) Faces. When I'm really really mad at someone i care about i can't get thier face out of head. Its not good.
4) Famous Movie lines. Like "I love you." "I know." From Star wars =]. or "You want the truth. You can't handle the truth" From a Few good men. "I realized i would rather fight with you than make love to anyone else." Wedding date. "What a stupid lamb, What a sick masochistic lion." from a both adored and hated movie twilight, and of course "you had me at hello" From jerry mcguire. "I think were going need a bigger boat" From jaws and countless others....
5) Lines from books i read. Too many to give examples.
6) Stupid things Dar does i remember them so i can tell stacey.

Hmmm thats it. =]

Stuck in my head?

Generally the only two things stuck in my head are:
1) The theme songs from the mummy, and I dream of Jeanie.
and 2) Ancient Egyptian chants and curses used at ceremoies.
Weird I know but I spend so much time thinking about those kinds of things that they kinda get stuck there for the better part of a week.
Most of the time it's not so bad but when you start writing that kind of thing down on assignments you tend to look like a fool. But some times it's worth it.

Aliens?

Let's see. Is there a benifit to them being here? Yeah kinda...They are doing the jobs that most americans are too lazy to do but should we allow them to have a citizen's rights when they aren't really citizens? NOT ON YOUR LIFE! If they want to live here they should have to go through the process and do it the right way. I mean yeah we're all immigrants too but most of us were born on this soil so we're citizens. If you're caught in the U.S. illegally you should be either deported (which costs money we don't have) or , pardon me for being blunt or cruel, Shot.
That's my two cents. Live with it.

get that corn outta my faaace.

nacho libre lines get stuck in my head.. a lot. i had a solid week of nacho lines. and i also had the terminator theme song in my head. dun dun dun, dun dun. if it is a fun thing for me to do, it will get stuck in my head. or just something that is heard at the right moment when you arent thinking of anything.

Men In Black?

WRONG kind of aliens.
but all the same process. in the movie it was space aliens. in real life, its people.
I think that we should have a limit to the amount of immigrants from anywhere. have a set number for legal americans. and if we have space, let some others in

Stuck in your head

Uh I couldn't find the original assigned post for this but I saw a lot of posts about it and I haven't done it yet. Things that get stuck in my head are ussually songs when i'm trying to sleep (Like my girl and lake of fire....Where do bad folks go when they die they don't go to heaven where the angels fly go to a lake of fire and fry don't see em' again till the fourth of juuuuulllllly), which forces me to stay up unless I get it out of my mind which can sometimes be hard. Other things that get stuck in my head are things about life, what's going to happen, what's happening right now, what am I doing and why, sometimes when I think about it I get so lost in thought I don't even realize it and ussually snap out of it an try an think about somthing else.
Many other things get stuck in my head but this is about all for now.

Illegal Immigrants

I personally haven't had any problems with illegal immigrants that i'm aware of other then they can be used for cheap labor, mayby I just can't think of anything right now but i'm really un-opinionated about this topic other then I guess that there should be slightly more strict border control since illegal immigrants don't pay taxes like everyone else that works in America.

Stuck in your Head

Blog ??: Stuck in the old noggin.

I usually get a lot of things stuck in my head. I'll make a list of my top ten things that usually get stuck in my head. Some might not like the first one.

1. I lost the game. Yeah that's right. I get the game stuck in my head if I ever think of things that I should be thinking about. For all the people who don't know about the game here are the rules. You are playing the game when you know about it. When you remember the game you loose it. If you loose the game you must announce that you lost the game. If they do not know of the game you must give them the rules.

2. Mario theme and Tetris theme. These two get stuck in my head quite often as well. Such as when I'm working on something strenuous or embarrassed. These tunes are quite easy to go along with and I think everyone has these moments.

3. The South Park episode where they buy the weapons. "Let's Fighting Love" Youtube link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfEsiTMBmDU

4.Finish later.

Immigration

Blog ??: Immigration

This topic doesn't really mean much to me, because to me they are humans and have every right to the land as we do. I think we should stop thinking to highly of ourselves and let "illegal aliens" into our country as citizens. Some might think that not fair, but America has it so easy even in this time of crisis while Mexico now has the swine flu to deal with.

Some good things is that they work there hardest, if not harder than we do. We complain about every little mistake and we are become quite lazy. If they want to come here and make it better then why not let them.

I'm not to into this topic so I'm going to end it here.

Sincerely,
David Dunlap

immigration...emigration?

i dont really know what to think about immigrants because at one point or another our ancestors were immigrants to this country. i really dont tghink we should stop people from comming into our country but i think we need to have higher standerds on who gets in and i think we need better borderline security. i think its kinda hypocrytical that everyones freaking out about immigrants when not so long ago we had the bracero program that brought them in to the united states because we needed their help and now that we dont need them anymore we wont help them.... i just think its kinda ridiculous.
also the words emmigration and immigration deeply confuse me... i never know which one to use.

Stuck in my head

Things that get stuck in my head. Umm. Well right now there are a lot of sad things stuck in my mind like the last time i saw my mom. She had just past away and i was saying good bye. There's also this song called Sissy Song that we played at my mom's funeral i get the melody of that song stuck in my head all the time. I probably get that song stuck in my head because it represented my mom's life.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbYItdf6IBc I warn you that you might cry if you listen to this song. I know i cry every time i hear it. Also i have a song called hide me away that gets stuck in my head, it's sad because it plays in my head whenever i start to feel over whelmed and need God to comfort me and shield.

I get a lot of happy thoughts stuck in my head to like a song called High Priest Forever. I also keep going over this last week which had a lot of fun moments to it. Also i get lots of movies stuck in my head but i also change them and make my own story out of them so i can be in them to. I also do it with books. I also have all my friends personalities and voices stuck in my head. A lot of times they help me think of what i should do next.

New Topic: Immigration

For the week of April 26 - May 2 (Sorry this is late.)

The issue of illegal immigration seems to be heating up again. Between the worries about the swine flu, which has people demanding the border between Mexico and the U.S. be closed, and the recent debate about the Dream Act, which would allow illegal immigrants who have lived in the US for three years and graduated from an American high school (You don't need to be a legal citizen to attend public school -- you all knew that, right?) to pay the lower, in-state tuition for state colleges, and the recent decision to overturn Columbia County's own Illegal Workers Act (Sorry about the biased source -- the news was apparently too small to hit major media. But they seem to have the facts right, if not fair commentary from the other side.), it seems like the question of how the US should handle illegal aliens has become the argument of the day.

So we should talk about it. What is your opinion? How much of a problem are illegal aliens in the US? Is there any benefit to the presence of illegal aliens here? What, if anything, should be done about them, and why?

By the way: when I have talked about this in the past, people get very over-sensitive about accusations of racism related to this issue. So here's the general rule. Commenting on something obvious and observably true about a race or group of people -- people of African descent have darker skin than people of European descent -- is not racist, though it's usually a good idea to qualify things like that, since there are always exceptions to the rule. Commenting on something that seems generally true and is observable/provable, but is not negative -- most illegal immigrants are from Mexico -- may be stereotypical, but is not generally racist. Making a comment about an entire group that is not observable or provable, and is negative -- Mexicans are dirty and uneducated; Americans are intolerant rednecks -- that's racist. There's gray area, but that's basically it. Now: if you are comfortable with your racism, go ahead and post a racist rant -- though you should keep it clean. You really won't suffer any punishment for it other than people thinking you are racist. Please keep your comments civil.

Go to it.

Things stuck in your head? Lucky.

It's hard to imagine someone being bothered by having something stuck in their head. I can't remember a damned thing, let alone a minute thing such as a song. However, it has happened, on rare occasion. And on those rare occasions, it's something strange, like someone's name. I remember when I was in 7th grade I, for some reason, got Alison Hobizal's name stuck in my head for a week.

If it counts, some kind of self-aware mental torture thing was that I also, in 7th grade, forgot the rhythm of walking and walked hurky-jerky for about six months. Thankfully, nobody told me that they'd noticed. I also forgot how to naturally close my mouth, as in it'd be suctioned or just at a strange pressure, and I could never figure out what was normal. Obviously, I was not.

When I get songs stuck in my head, it's not because someone sang it, it's because I hear a little rhythm that matches it. I don't have this problem very often, but I will try to list them nonetheless.

1. I'd have to say the worst thing that gets stuck in my head are movie quotes. ESPECIALLY Zoolander quotes. The worst one recently is the quote from Mugatu: "Hansel, he's so hot right now, Hansel." Or the "I'm like a hot little potato." I dunno, pretty much everything from that movie is catchy and quotable. "A center for ANTS?" XD

2. Noah and Micah babble. This is what Xian and I call his little brothers' indecipherable babble that they use in the place of real English. Somehow they're able to recreate a specific babble phrase and give it meaning. For example, last night Noah (2 1/2) wanted to watch Winnie the Pooh, so he said "A withawithawithawithawithawitha pooooh?" Or Micah's blather(1 1/2), where he's just squealing around the house," Dubbadubbadubba." Or some pokemon breeeee! noises. Catchy.

3. Your team. SO catchy. Anytime I hear an" Oh mah gah" or I see some flannel mixed with a pair of sweat pants, a "your team!" slips. It gets tough though, because sometimes it happens with someone that doesn't know the rules, then I have to explain it. A good one was when Xian and I were leaving Safeway a few days back and this middle aged woman stuck her hand in the front of her pants. She heard me mimmick her all the way to both our cars. Whoops!

4. Spongebob actions. Or quotes. This only occurs though with either Xian or Demi, simply because they love Spongebob as much as I do. And because "I love you." :B

I'm pretty tired, and distracted by SNL, and I can't think of any more things that get stuck in my head.

And so, good night.

Stuck in my head you say? Intruiging.

Let's just start things off by saying EVERYTHING gets freaking stuck in my head.
Things that are appealing will catch my ear and drive me to insanity. I don't know it's weird. Kind of like an addiction. I will go on youtube and listen to the song or watch the movie until I can memorize it. Call me crazy but that's how I roll. Generally speaking it will be songs for the most part that stick in my head. As for the game Humphrey, I lost already and could care less lol. I can thank the real Matt Taggart for some of these ( my hair was blond before this s#$t).
So please, try not to rickroll me or anything because chances are, I will memorize the song and you all don't want that to happen.

School year budget cuts.

Hmm where do we start on this subject? Well OK I can start by saying get rid of senior project. I just never got the idea of that class. And most students use that time to sleep in anyways so while the school districts wastes money on having an empty room with a teacher in it they could save a little. Some athletics events will need to be cut and after school events as well. I believe the schools around here will revert back to being just more solely about education instead of sports etc. If the school were to absolutely not do one thing it would have to be fire too many teachers. If there is one thing that the cantankerous students of this school don't need is more people in their class to converse with. I'm no genius and I'm sure the school district has it pretty well figured out but you asked for me to state my opinion so... Yeah there ya go. I'm probably wrong but hey, what can ya do?

Cheating.

Cheating is as common as the article says, if not more. Everybody, sometime in their life will cheat somebody or on something whether they know it or not. Cheating is for the majority of the times a bad thing, but in certain situations I am sure, cheating can be a positive thing. I can't name any off the top off my head (lol) but you get the point.
Well.. let's say it this way. If you were in a hostage situation involving certain death unless you were to answer a few select questions chosen by your holders. If they were to leave the answer key in plain site you could totally shall I say "cheat death"? But that doesn't happen everyday so cheating is a bad thing yo, don't cheat yourself, do the work, you'll find more satisfaction in doing it that way, i'm sure of it.

Global warming.

I do believe that the global climate is changing. I believe that it is always changing, but I do think that human activity in the recent years has played a major part in the sporadic weather patterns. U.S.A. used to be the world's largest producer of pollution but because of China's growing industrial power they have surpassed us on the pollution scale. Coal along with petroleum and petroleum bi-products are not solely to blame but are largely responsible to the greenhouse gas that has been emitted into the atmosphere by humans. I think that are many things that we can do to counter the problems that we have caused but like the problems, it will take alot of time to mend.

Climate change is no longer a doomsday prophecy, it's a reality

This always makes me think of The Day After Tomorrow that movie really scared me because that is going on right now, maybe not so dramatic. Yet that is.
Us humans do play a pretty big role in what is going here at home I think. We do contribute a lot of waste and pollution(with factories, landfills, cars, dumping chemicals, etc.) into the air and into the earth which is no good but I don't think it's all this generations fault it's just gotten worse over a long period of time and has been building up.
I think fixing this problem will take a super long time if it's even fixable which there's a chance it's not. Maybe we should just all start building super strong underground housing/community center vault things for when S**t really hits the fan.

Budget cuts...

Budget cuts are lame because not only was our school broke already with budgets cuts on top of that we are screwed. The school will cut teachers and classes will get bigger and that will become a problem. Sports teams are going to be cut possibly and that will just suck because sports are such a big part of st. helens. I'm not looking forward to my senior year. =[
I think cheating is very common. The good side to cheating isn't very bright but sometimes cheating can make you realize what you have, Make you see how good your relationship is. I believe telling someone you cheated on that you cheated one them only makes the cheater feel better. Some people will find out that they don't care for the relationship they are in and cheating makes them realize it and in the end they are happier. I do not believe cheating is nice or necessary in any situation but idk.

Stuck in your head?

  1. Now that i read Humphreys blog i have Gives You Hell by The all American Rejects stuck in my head. I get that Song stuck in my head really easy...
  2. Uhh i get Poker Face stuck in my head really easy too.. I'm not sure why but i do and i don't like it really... But oh well....
  3. Cininide by Metallica is another song that i love and if i hear it once during the day i have it in my head all day..
  4. And I have the song Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson stuck in my head right now.... I don't know why i haven't heard it today at all...
  5. Ha and another one is Talk Dirty to me by Poison that is a good song i like it..
  6. Oh and Bad Fish by Sublime is a song that i get stuck in my head all the time...

Uhh that's all i can really think of right now but really all that gets stuck in my head as i think you all can tell.... But ya.. I don't know why but oh well at least it's not a song that i don't like or something.

Global warming (late sorry =[)

I do believe global warming is a real thing. I think humans have played a big part but im not sure how. Just the weather in st. helens alone the weather is way different it snowed so much this year compared to last year, i think that global warming isn't necessaly just getting warmer but climate change. which some people refuse to believe.

10 things I loathe

The things I hate most...

1.) Bugs, they really freak me out. Especially moths, spiders, beetles, and butterflies they freak me out the most.

2.) Close-minded people, they are the worst.

3.)Olives, man they are nasty I can't stand them and I don't like watching people eat them.

4.) Needles, I cry just about every time and I get very near passing out when I have to get shots.
I always think it feels freaky and looks freaky.

5.) Giving speeches. Can't stand it, I hate doing it. I feel like passing out, my stomach feels sick, I turn red from head to toe, and sometimes I get goosebumps, jeez I hate it.

6.) Freshmen, they are a waste of good school space.

7.) Allergies. I just got them like the summer before last and it drives me insane. Dogs(lucky me I got one), ferrets, grass, flowers, other pollens. Then I have to take stupid allergy medicine.

8.) Washing dishes, I have to wash them all the time at my house and I am sick if them.

9.) Razor burn/cuts, they hurt very badly and they suck.

10.) It's not quite at the level of hate but I strongly dislike this creepy guy that hangs out at Chevron, he gives me the worst feeling.

Many are the stars I see, but in my eye no star like thee

Valentines Day, I know it's way past due but whatever. So I know it's been said a hundred times but I hate Valentines Day, it sucks royally. There is nothing "special" about it because people feel they HAVE to get there boyfriend or girlfriend that ridiculous bear or chocolate otherwise they'll just seem like jerks who don't really "love" you. They should get you things like that any day of the year or even something small to show you care. I have yet to celebrate that "holiday" since the 5th grade when we had to give cards to everybody. There may be only one plus and that is all the chocolate/candy half off the next day which is pretty great, I always get a whole bunch.

Things that get stuck in my head. Let's take a look.

I always have things that get stuck in my head, and it's usually annoying but catchy things.

1.) I've had this part of this stupid song "Poker face" by Lady Gaga (stupid name) stuck in my head for days, my sister plays it all the time and it just wiggles in and plays in head over and over and I could shove screw drivers in my ears. "No he can't read my poker face(She's got me like nobody)P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face(Mum mum mum mah)P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face(Mum mum mum mah)Poker face"

2.) Since Humphrey mentioned it, that stupid game (which I just lost the game. Thank you very much, I hadn't thought of it awhile) I love saying it sometimes to see people get all huffy about it.

3.) Sleep country commercial song will just pop out of nowhere and play in my head for awhile "Sleep country USA, why buy a mattress anywhere else"

4.) I just watched identity (for like the hundredth time) and so I've had that little poem that John Cusak's character says "When I was going up the stairs, I met a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today, I wish, I wish he'd go away."

5.) I have also had the cry of that stupid baby simulator stuck in my head and it makes me really, I can't even describe how it makes me feel but it's not warm and fuzzy. I have no idea what I was thinking when I took that thing.

6.) Oh, my little sister loves the Disney channel and watches these stupid shows and one of them is called Sonny with a chance and my god is it mind numbing. Well the girls, through half the show walk around and just say "check out that guy" "No you check out that guy" "Oh check out the water" and it had been stuck in my head and I have no idea why but it drives me crazy.

Well those are just a few recent things that have been stuck in my head.

FEARS (ooooooo scarry)

I know its kinda a little kid thing but i am still afraid of the dark....its usually only when im alone but i geft way freaked out. i think its because im almost blind and i have depth perception issues so when anything is in shadow i cant see it all and i scare myself imagining what horible crazy things something could be....when its usually probally a squirrel or something. actually i have a story about me freaking out in the dark....Me and my friends jared and prairie decided to go on a nature walk at night last weekend on these woodsy trails and it was pitch black and the night was quiet until we got down to where the forest part was then it was downright creepy, it was really loud and it sounded likethere was stuff all around us and all the trees were moving and creaking.. but it wasnt windy! well we got about 50 feet into it and prairie had just gotten done telling a bigfoot story when like 5 huge trees started shaking all crazy like and there were wierd squealing sounds and stuff....needless to say i freaked out and ran back to the car. now that its over i think that my imagination got the best of me....either that or the bums that live on the trails decided to freak us out and play a trick on us...... but the truth is NO ONE will ever really know! (creepy)

things that are stuck in my head

THE CHICKEN DANCE SONG! it gets stuckin my head ALL the time, luckily ive noticed that its the perfect song to tune people out with, if you just sing it in your head nomatter what someone is saying it always looks like there singing to it!
Also it wasnt stuck in my head before this but since humphrey had to go and bring it up i have a line from V for vendetta stuck in my head: people shouldnt be afraid of there government , the government should be afraid of its people.....( i think my quote is WAY cooler than humphreys)
Most of the time when i space out i dont really have anything stuck in my head, i usually think about wierd things like what would happen if there was no friction? would the human race cease to exist or would we be wierd meat sack things that couldnt move???? actually that question gets stuck in my head quite a bit.... its mindboggling.........

The best way to appreciate something is to imagine yourself without it

I'd like to think I appreciate things well enough, like people, nature, or just simple things in life that I do everyday. There are however times when I forget and things don't always seem like that big of a deal or I complain about stupid things and then I feel bad and I just take a step back and it always runs through my head "what if you don't ever have that again?" and I realize how silly it was and their are people in this world that have nothing or close to it, so then everything seems more important or more beautiful.

My super late hero...

Hm, it's a bit tough but I think the person I would choose to be my hero is Leonardo DaVinci. I idolize this guy, and I just recently discovered how great of a man he was when I went to OMSI and saw his exhibit and it blew my mind the things he came up with and did. I bet people thought he was prett nutty back in his day. But yup that is my hero and someone I could look up to for some inspriation.

Things that get stuck in my head

Usually something has to be catchy to get stuck in my head, but who knows what else, well anyway here it is...

5. The Ventrilo Harassment of the World of Warcraft nerd, "Aw dude, 4 strength 4 stam leather belt, AH HA!"

4. Any Beastie Boys song I listen to goes through my head all day, it doesn't drive me as nuts as it should

3. Tom Lehrer's "The Song of Elements", it's just so catchy and I can't say one word

2. Instrumental songs like Benny Hill songs, or Zlad, and definitely Yello.......BOM BOM

1. Having a superpower, anytime you see me staring off into space, I'm probably thinking of what it's like to have the ability to turn charcoal into propane or something.

There is only one remedy that has worked for every one of these things and I can thank Devo for that, I started using Whip It to get things out of my head freshmen year I believe, and it works wonderfully, feel free to try it...

New Topic, Week of April 19 - April 25

Well, as tempting as it is to use this week to discuss something related to 4/20, I don't think there's all that much to say about marijuana, and I've heard it all before.

Watch. At least one person is going to post about marijuana this week.

No, I think this week's topic should be in honor of Demitri. And his vocabulary sheet. And the song that he got stuck in my head for two days. (By the way: no, it isn't stuck in my head any more. But now that I'm thinking about it again, it might be soon.)

We all have those thoughts, images, tunes, memories, that get stuck on a loop in our minds and play, over and over and over again, sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for days. Perhaps they turn into obsessions and stay in our heads for -- who knows? Maybe for life.

Here are a few of mine, from the last few weeks and months.

1. The song "My Girl" by Nirvana, from the Unplugged album -- "My girl, my girl, don't lie to me, tell me where did you sleep last night." That's the one Demitri wrote on his vocabulary sheet, a line to a box all the way across. I like the song a lot, so it got stuck in my head. Along with

2. The song "Gives You Hell" by All-American Rejects (When you see my face, hope it gives you hell, hope it gives you hell . . . ) It's a catchy song -- somehow those songs that have crowds singing, as if a whole bar full of drunks joined in, always seem more catchy to me. Plus it was recited as a poem by one of my Senior English students, and it made a connection the next time I heard the song.

3. The line "Behind this mask is an idea, Mr. Creevy. And ideas are bulletproof." from V for Vendetta. One of my favorite movies, one of my favorite lines, one of my favorite sentiments. I wish I could whisper it all menacingly to some oppressive government swine.

4. The number 42. Several former students and I started a mock church several years ago, and it was based around the number 42, from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Now I notice whenever I see 42, on a quiz score, on a Top 100 list, whatever.

5. Pirates. I actually think about them a lot. Combination of Talk Like a Pirate Day, and the Pirates of the Caribbean, three movies (and a ride) I love, and the whole pirates vs. ninjas thing, which I wrote an essay about. And then there are the Somali pirates that are all over the news now. I think it's fascinating that our world has broken down far enough that we have pirates once more on the high seas.

6. The game. Which I just lost, and so did you. I think that's actually a very clever idea, and it amuses me endlessly when it crosses my mind -- so it does it a lot.

So for me, it is music -- most often songs I only know a few lines of -- and things that make me laugh that stay in my head. Oh, and imagined conversations with people that tick me off -- I can go round and round with those for days. Like that one parent from parent conferences . . . yeah, that one.

Tell us what has been stuck in your head. Maybe it's a song, maybe it's an image from a movie or a TV show or something you saw on YouTube -- like this one, (WARNING! Don't click on that link unless you want that in your head! I mean it!) which gets stuck in my head a lot. Maybe it is something you worry about, or a sad or happy memory. When you find yourself spacing out or getting distracted -- what are you thinking about?

Environmentalist freaks.

I believe that our climate is changing, hotter summers, colder winters, but when people blow it out of proportion, that I do not like. It's not like the world is gonna get better after what we've done with that little thing called the Industrial Revolution. The world is never gonna be the same after that. I could care less if people hold rally/ thingamajigs on the environment, but when they start burning cars and what not, how is that helping the environment????? First of all, your burning all the stuff that is in the car, like gas and oil. Last time I checked, that's not good for the environment either. Second, I personally believe the maturity level to burn a car is pretty low.

Sincerely,
Nik Jennings

Super late post on fear.

I am a man of not that many fears, but the phobia's I have drive me crazy!!!!

  1. I am severely claustrophobic. I have being confined in an area where I cant move my arms or legs, or where I can feel my own breath bouncing back at me.
  2. Sharks jumping out of water. When sharks are in the water, I don't have a problem, but once they get airborne, that I do not like at all.
  3. Drowning. Need I say more??
  4. Cults. I have a fear of a religious cult just like worshiping the devil or something and me freaking out.

Sincerely,

Nik Jennings

Cellular devices

I think cellular devices cant really be a problem to society, if we use them wisely. Cell phones can be used for good, but also for bad. One example for good, If your car breaks down and you need to call AAA for some assistance. One example for bad, If your texting during a class, or a meeting. I don't think texting in the class is to bad, it's just when you do it is questionable. You can wait like 30 seconds until the teacher is done talking to reply to your friends. But when you do it while the teacher is talking, you need some help if your that addicted to it.

Sincerely,
Nik Jennings

Gosh Darn Recession

I believe what the school district needs to do is cut down dramatically on non-essential activities through the school. One example, field trips. The kids learn the same things at school and it doesn't cost a rediclious amount of money. Another, cut some computers, we have a computer lab that we cant even use, which is solely used for testing. that's  bull crap and a half. Now, my final statement on this topic would be teacher pay-cuts. I understand why teachers would not want to work a couple days for free, but their is something that we need to do to have a little more money in the school districts bank account.

        Sincerely,
          Nik Jennings

I will be your hero baby...

I would have to say that Suleiman is my hero??? I'm not totally sure other than he went out of his way to wear ridiculously big sultan onion head hats, also at the same time payed homage to his favorite ruler by taking over as much of the world as he possibly could?

And by the way, being able to have the nickname The Magnificent, without being some sort of illusionist or magician takes more skill than any one human other than Suleiman could possibly have

But in all reality, I probably don't have a hero because I don't have my ONE big interest so it's hard to find someone who can represent me and be remembered by civilization for centuries...

Regret....from 4 months ago???

The thing I probably regret most is failing like oh I don't know every class I took freshmen and sophomore year??? There's not really a reason as to why I did it other than laziness and having hang out with people as my number one priority, now looking back if I could change anything, I wouldn't overlook high school and my education

Budget Cuts

I think that there are not very many solutions that will be a significant increase in saving without having collateral, but I think that we will have to cut some classes next year like, World History, a class I'm in that has 6 students, and accounting, which I was in that has about 4 students. I think that once we cut insignificant classes such as these and have teachers teaching more required classes, that money won't need to be spent on 5 teachers for one class because they all teach a ridiculous elective, so I don't want to say people need to be fired, but it is probably the most logical way to save money using my method.

FEAR... it goes bump in the night.

first off Mr. Humphrey's post on fear was so awesome. I can totally picturing him, on a chair, with like a dish towel, screaming, and trying to beat up a moth. that's amazingly amazing.
it made my life =)
When I was younger I had problems with death, so bad that I don't think i could talk about it... so why did I bring it up.......... I don't know.
pretty much right now I am scared of and always have and will be terribly frightened of mosquitoes and martha stewart shanking me. lol just kidding.

really mosquitoes are satanic. they want me dead. funny story.......

once upon a time, we were camping up big lake, in the mountains, I was like a mountain woman. that's cool. Anyway, it's by a lake, so there were mosquitoes everywhere I was fighting them off left and right, up and down. It was like an army after me, I thought it was the end. one of these suckers, literally, had to have like malaria or HIV or something that would kill me... I covered myself in spray, tons of clothing, anything my head was hidden away in my 20,000 hoods man.

scary stuff right there, they all need to die. That's pretty much all I fear for the moment, well anything that would entertain another Homo sapien.

cell phones *crash* ahhhhHHH!!!

I dont have a cell phone anymore, but when I did I texted like it was goin out of style man. I never wanted to speak to people face to face, I was lazy and just like texted them. I even did that stupid thing when you are sitting right next to someone and you text eachother. That is freakin dumb.
I am kinda happy that I don't have my phone anymore, I can make friends easier and they can see who I really am and not silly things i can just say...
The phones in class are not something I am too fond of. It is a time of learning not a time of texting... but i don't have the greatest grades soooo hahahahaha.

Appreciate Beauty

Honestly I love the violin (I'm getting one soon) so I might have stopped, also with the fact that it was Bach. I try to stop for people who play on the streets or anywhere because most of the time they need the support or just someone to listen to what they have to express.
I am originally from South Eugene so I have seen a lot of people rockin out on the streets or at the market. I can remember this little boy, he was like 11 or 12 and he was playing his violin, not the greatest but he was doing it so he could go to a music school. I thought it was wonderful, not because of just how he sounded but because he was so passionate about it! I loved it! I gave him money and stopped to listen to him play...
So anyway, I am scared to think about how much beauty I have missed in life because I was on a journey to somewhere, waisting my time more than likely. Now that this topic has been brought up, I think I'm going to stop and smell the flowers more, or more than I already do, smile at people, listen to wonderful music, give little kids I don't know money, help grandma across the street, and lay in the grass... sounds like a brilliant idea! we should all do it!

oh also, just like on YES MAN, I am going to do jogging photography, so if you would like to join me, just say hey, I would like to do that as well!
.peace.

10 things I hate... about you. hahaha, i love that movie.

blah blah blah, hates not a good word, whatever man, I hate a lot of things, yay me! lol
10 things I hate. a time for me to complain.

1) Meat~ I love animals, I just don't want to eat them.

2) Talk show/ infomercial people ~
Go away "Dr" Phil ( you know why your husband left you!? do you know why!? Because you asked him when he was going to be home.) he can't be a real doctor, he is evil.
Rachel Ray.......... ( this is a potato, say it with me po-ta-to... and this is water, wA-terr) uh duh stupid woman, I think if someone can turn on the television to watch your dumb program I think they know what water is.
"you're gonna love my nuts!"

3) Those boys with that hair~ okay so get it cut or brush it out of your face, it obviously isn't working out well if you can't even see with out having long term neck problems and seizures.

4) People who think Panic At The Disco is an "emo" band~ you people are dumb and I hate you! That is my favorite band, get it straight, geez. jerks. They are like Folk, Rock, Big Band, etc. good stuff right there!

5) Mosquitoes~ They are not my friends, humans spread disease around enough, we don't need yucky and scary flying creatures help thanks.

6) Little girls that dress like hookers~ it is mostly just from the ages of 10 through like 16. uh put something on, I certainly don't want to see your nipples and bits of pubes when you come to school.

7) Kids~ why can't we be born with the maturity of a 30 year old...? gosh little kids are worthless and terrible! My parents told me it probably isn't a good idea for me to have children... hahaha.

8) Annoying people~ so I don't care that you think you are funny because you probably are not. Like someone close to me, they think they are hilarious and I just want to punch them in the face everytime they speak. Oh and those people who pick, pick, pick at everything you say and think it is funny.

9) People who scream when they speak~ ouch, I would like to keep my hearing. plus you are right next to me... I will ask you to speak up if I can't hear you. Those people also have to yell over other people because they think they are so mighty.

10) Being Bossed around~ I have a mind of my own and I will get to it when I'm ready or when I get to it. You don't have to tell me what to do all of the time and I will empty the dish-washer when I get there!

I guess those are just some of the things I hate. I didn't want to make a list that sounded similar to everyone elses... so I tried to pick different things. somewhat.

late vday

suuuper late. hahaha.

uhh so i really do not like valentines day. it sucks b*lls. thats ironic.

I think it is a terrible "holiday" like others have already said, why not love your special someone everyday and not waste a ton of money on probably the crappiest day of the year...
well okay, I sound so against it because I have never celebrated it other than in elementary school, when we had to.
It is just a waste of a good day.

regrets

I have to say that I regret some of the choices I have made in my life, but I know with those choices I have to deal with the consequences. Sometimes the things I regret may not be completely bad, but they are still there. Some of them are just silly little things...

An example of something that I regret is what a lot of other students regret, slacking off when they should have paid attention. I still do it and I still pay for it. I hope someday I will get over being a slacker... then I will never regret again!

Budget Cuts

Next year... I think that next year is going to well suck.. It is my last year and they are making all of these changes cutting out a lot of things. Sports, stats, teachers, some classes... I mean why do we need so many teachers for one sudject? If we just cut down some of the teachers and make the classes bigger it would be saving money... Ya bigger classes might not be the best but it is something we could do. And the next schedule next year is no good peple are going to lose their chance of getting some credits.. I just don't know.... I just think that next year it just going to suck...

Cheating.

Cheating... Ok we all know that most of us have done it.. Yes i odn't think it is the right thing to do but it happens. Cheating isn't good you don't learn anything but if you don't know the answer to something and someone next to you does why not it is just helping your grade. And i personally don't care i don't think that we are going to use more of the things we learn in school in realy life unless you actually go out and get a job that is in the area. So i don't see anything wrong with cheating.....

Cheating

well everyone cheats. its the best thing in this world for slackers. it enables them to make the impossible, possible. if you dont know the answer to a question on the test, hey why not sit next to some one whos smart and take there answer.

Budget Cuts

I think that we should cut all math and english classes, simply because i do not like either. Math isnt too bad but i still dont like it. now language arts.. the only class ive ever failed.. i HATE reading books. its the most boring thing i could ever do. So by cutting out those 2 things the school district would save a ton of money and make kids excited to go to school.

Cheating

OMG where talking about cheating? Everyone has and or well cheat on somthing in our lifes when all know it to. I have cheated a few times in my life but it really isn't a big deal you'r just gettin information without learning anything. But there are those people that say cheating is a very bad thing to do and that you shouldn't do it, But those people need to learn how to get over it beacuse somewhere, someplace someone well be cheating on what? We don't know.

Global Warming

Ok what is the big deal with global warming? Im not a person who has this big worry about our inviroment but OMG let it go, iof everyone is so worried about the inviorment then they woul ddo more about it... Im not seeing really big movemnet or anything like that to help our inviorment but when i do ill be sure to stop throwinf my trash on the ground............ at least for a little bit

Hatred

What is the real meaning of the word "Hate" we use this word everyday but do we actully mean it when we say it?

I will admet that i have used the word hate alot but im not to sure if that i really meant it all the time.

There is one thing that i know i hate and that is the people that are all on themselves because they don't thing about anyone but themselves. that is the thing i hate the most.

Valentine's Day

I hate valentine's day with a passion because there really isn't a reason for it. What is valentine's day really for anyway? Does anyone even know or really care? But there are lots of people that think valentine's day is just so so great and that it is so cool and special.....but i beg to differ because i don't see anything in the day what so ever.

Heroes

I don't think i really have or even want a hero. But if i had a hero i would want one that was everything that im not because if he/she was like me then there really wouldn't be a reson to have a hero.

Regrets

There are alot of things that i regret but just a few are. One making stupid choices earlier in my life like puttin my head threw a wall, spilting my head open on a brick wall, and so much more the my biggest regret is not putting my best foot forward in everything i do.

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

budget cuts suck

i think its really bad that there will be budget cuts next year but i think our school hasnt done anything to help the situation.....next year i think the school should only focus on things that we really need instead of things like new sinks when the old ones were fine and we really needed working bathroom stalls...i hope that none of the faculty gets laid off but i think it would probally help if we had less teachers and bigger classes , the only problem is if that happened it would be a harder learning environment. next years block schedule is gonna suck!!!!!!!

Cellular devices...

Honestly I'm not to sure how much my cell phone bill is since my parents pay for it. But I would guess somewhere between $80-$100 a month depending on how much I talk that week which isn't too often since I don't use my phone to much. I'm pretty sure in the long run cell phones will take over. Because people now-a-days people can use them for just about ANY redonkulous reason. I guess positively speaking it would be good if your like stuck somewhere and need help or need to get a hold of someone for something and you don't have a phone nearby. I do admit I text sometimes in class but I try not to. I don't think my cell phones has affected my face to face communication because I have never been good at that anyway, I don't think I'm a terrible writer either.
As for banning cell phones in class I don't think its a bad idea. It doesn't really stop many people but I think it's a good idea to try and keep people more focused on school.

Fear makes the wolf bigger than he is...

I could list like a million things that I'm afraid of and it could make a novel, well kind of.
So I guess just the main top 5 things would probably be...
1)Needles, they are the scariest things. I can't stand shots and sadly I must admit I do ask for my mother to be in the room with me and hold my hand.
2)Bugs, I can't stand bugs of any kind. I don't care if the crawl, fly, or wiggle around they just freak me out, mostly though bugs with antenna's those get to me when their little feelers start wiggling
3)Dying from some scary unnatural way.
4)Public speaking, I hate talking to groups of people big or small I get really scared and nervous
5)Heights those get to also. I think it all started when my dad held me over a lion exhibit at the zoo so I could get a better look. I knew he was holding on tight but it really freaked me out and the fear a falling was killing me more so than the thought of being eaten if I did fall

Cheater Cheater Pumpkin Eater...

So I think the article is pretty dead on the commonness of cheating, weither it be something small or something big a lot of people cheat.
I guess there could be a good side to cheating like if it's going to do good for the better of someoneor like if a person was gone from something for a while and needs to catch up fast I guess that wouldn't be all too terrible. I'm not to sure it would justife if the person was just lazy and didn't feel like doing it or some other redonkulous reason.

Appreciate...

for me i try to appreciate the small things in life, appreciate how my life is rite now how im living, cuz when i look at other ppl around the world, damn... like the other day i saw a artical about my ppl my cambodian ppl living in the dumps barely eating... it breaks my heart

beauty

i feel like we dont take the time to really see the beauty in things, not just the outer beauty but also whats inside. i try to take the time to see the beauty in things but its hard with a world so ugly full of hateful things and ppl.

Budget cuts

it really does suck how our poor school who cant afford paper is ganna be cuttin back even more... for me i do care what happens to the school even if im a senior whose ganna be gone soon, because my brothers are ganna be here and they shouldnt be screwed over..

Global Warming.

that right there is our faults, its crazy that its our planet is changing, but slowly there is change to wut we are doin to the earth which is nice, so our kids can grow up and know how to treat the place we all live on

cheaters

we are all cheaters, we do it because we dont think we hav it in us to pass a test with out doing so.. i aint ganna lie i cheated before, aint proud of it but it happend, thats whats up we all cheat

Budget cuts

Just because some of us are seniors doesn't mean we don't have a reaction.
We're already a pretty poor district comepared to others in the state and now they want to make us more poor? Why? We can barely afford the things we do have and now we're not going to be able to afford any new books, good teachers are going to be lost, and no one is going to be able to do any sports cause we're not going to have any.
This is a lot of crap. Most people should think about what is really important and start worrying more about the schools then their stupid raises and crap.

New Topic, Week of 4/12-4/19

All right: I know most of you are Seniors, and so don't have any personal stake in what happens at this school next year; and several of you have already discussed this, possibly at length, possibly in more than one class.

Too bad. It's a good topic, and we're going to talk about it again.

St. Helens School District, which includes all of the schools in St. Helens from McBride to SHHS and CCEC and CRYC, is looking at a budget shortfall next year. At last projection -- and there will be more information given over the next couple of months -- it was set at approximately $2.8 million.

This means that everything is going to get cut at least a little bit, some things a whole lot. Some teachers are going to lose their jobs, along with some administrators, counselors, classroom aides, secretaries -- you name it. It also means some programs will be cut, including athletics, which will have fewer contests next year, and programs like music and art and the technical classes, as well. Student fees for the programs that remain will go up, as will class sizes. There may be days cut out of the school year (Don't get excited -- they'll cut non-class days first.) or some other change to the schedule. Of course, all of Oregon and pretty much the entire country is facing the same problem, so there's nothing remarkable about all of this -- except for the fact that this is our school, our town, our lives.

So what do you think? First of all, what do you think the district should do to save money? Is there anything the district absolutely should not do to save money? What should the school's priorities be, and how should the budget cuts for next year reflect that?

A few things: please, PLEASE don't spend your entire post complaining about ways the school spent money this year. I don't need to hear about the cameras or the snow days. Start thinking about next September. And please remember that employee layoffs are determined by seniority (who has worked here the longest), not who you like the best or who you think does a good job. So just because you think Mr. Humphrey is a crappy teacher, you can't say that we should save money by firing Mr. Humphrey. Okay? You could say we should cut an English teacher, if you think we have too many at the high school (We have seven English teachers, by the way -- Language Arts is the largest single department), but you can't pick on one specific person.

All right, fire away.

fear, feer, pheer.

i am afraid of pelicans. they are the scariest thing on the planet. im scared they are gonna gobble me up and take me away. another fear of mine is like the ocean/sharks. if im in the ocean where sharks are, i am gonna freak. thats why i dont really want to ever do that. but i did go whale watching and saw a grey whale. then i got really sea sick and was spewing over the back of the boat.

Cheating...

I'm not going to lie i have cheated in school before... I'm not proud of it but I'm willing to bet that any one person has done is at least once in there life... everyone knows it happens all the time and there is not really anyway to stop it... it hurts them more then anything because they truly didn't learn...

global warming

hmm well obviously global warming is happenning just look at how out of wack the weather is
just 3days ago it was all rainy and gross and today its like 70 degress out!
but we have alot to do with it we put so much crap into the air and fill huge holes with all our trash how is it not going to happen
but its also something natural i guess cuz the same thing happened millions of years ago
so yeah our fault or natural....
we may never know...
Face it everyone cheats at one point in their life
its not such a bad thing some times
yeah you should do your own work and learn whatever you need to
but there are times where you just cant remember one question and the person next you happens to have it
really who wouldnt take that chance and cheat..
so yeah get over it
its not all that bad

Global Warming.

The thought of Global Warming pretty much scares me.

The climate is eventually going to change, But yes I think that for the most part Global Warming is our faults. The chemicals we use, the things we do to our earth on a daily basis without even noticing it. Really, Its out faults......But who cares, maybe were making the process happen faster. But even if we weren't doing anything wrong...It would still eventually happen to the world. Global warming is going to happen no matter what we do. Is really, how I feel about it. All I know is before anything horrible happens to the world, Ill be dead. So im deffinatley okay, And good to go.

warming, globally.

it is happening. maybe. it could just be the earth doing what it is meant to do natturally. but i think that is not true. all of these machines and cars with awesome exhaust output and all dem cows lettin gas loose. global warming doesnt affect me at all. ii dont feel warmer or anything, if anything the weather has been colder!! and a lot crappier.

cheating

i think cheating is as common as the article said...probally even more.
I think that there could be some good reasons for cheating if it saved someones life or something drastic like that but cheating in highschool is pretty ridiculous..... think about it during highschool you are basically gettin ready for your future job ,if you cheated all through school by the time you got a job you wouldnt know how to do anything......and it would probally be pretty embarassing ,.

Cheating.

You know what, I think everyone should get off there high horse about cheating.
Okay, yes its bad. And yes you dont learn anything, and yes its not the right thing to do.
BUT- NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO OR SAY ITS STILL GOING TO HAPPEN.

SO........GET OVER IT!

Really, in the future right now in the past there's always been cheating....its not changing there's no way to really stop it. So just give up. If you catch them doing it COOL, get them in trouble but if not oh well, dont complain....its over and done with. Really there's nothing you can do.

Cheating

I think it's bad to cheat since it isn't fair to the people who don't cheat. It was intereasting to see the views of cheating as a good way for creating ways to make peoples lives easier, but as creative as people are in finding ways to cheat, they're doing it have more time for themselves which makes people look at cheating as being negative which is I guess.

V Day

V Day. why? i understand the reasoning of why they decided to have it but i don't understand why there is only one special day to designate to your lover. isn't everyday supposed to be special? and a surprise. it means more when your love comes into the house on some random day with something special for you.. such as on v day you are expecting something and if you don't get it you become disappointed or angry.. i feel like its more of just another day for ppl to buy more thing... i think its lost its meaning well not necessarily lost its meaning but the meaning has changed over the years....

V-Day

Personally i think v-day is really stupid..
come one if you really love someone you should show them that you love them every day not just day out of the year..
and i find it really ridiculous when girls get all butt hurt when their boyfriends or whatever for get or dont do anything "specail" for on that day
really get over it!
if they really care for you they will show you that they do every day not just on one stupid day
designed by card companies

Appreciate.

I think everyone has really forgotten the word Appreciate. Really.
Because, everyone always appreciates a new Xbox, or a new cell phone. Or something large and incharge haha. Or like, the most expensive thing...when really we should appreciate the small things.
Like having clothes, or having a house, or the deer in the forest we dont get to see too often.
Or, your mom or dad telling you that they love you.
Or, you and your brother getting along.

I am starting to appreciate the smaller things.
And appreciating the smaller things is making me love life just a little bit more.
And seeing everything in a better light.

Fears... =S

I have many fears...
One of the biggest fears i have is loosing the people i love such as family and very close friends
i have a fear of being alone..
another big one is open water! i always feel like something is going to grab my leg and pull me under it sucks... i can never really fully enjoy swimming unless im in a pool...
another kind of weird one i have is going to the doctor when im sick i fear that their going to tell me im like really sick like dying sick because my dad died of cancer..
there are other ones i have but those three are my major ones.

10 Fears.

I fear that if i push people to far away from my feelings, then I will be all alone.
I fear spiders, and any gross looking bugs.
I fear Sex Offenders, Or any one person who makes a living by hurting any other person.
I fear that I will lose someone close to me.
I fear that i could become paralyzed by anything.
I fear really bad infections.
I fear that i am doing bad in school even though im not and I know im not.
I fear that i will embarrass myself infront of tons of people.
I have a fear of being on stage in front of tons of people.
And i have a fear I will grow up to be nothing like i want myself to be.

Global Warming

For me its hard to say whether or not there really is such thing as global warming. We havent had the tools or quiptment for studying the earths weather and climate changes for all that long. The earth is always changing so how can we say its global warming and not just a natural process. If there is such a thing or not, it still is important to take care of the earth in ways like lessining pollution, less garbage in and fills, perserving our forests and protecting wildlife.

global warming (late....whoops)

Im glad someone finally brought it up cuz this whole global warming thing is freakin me out. I think all this stuff is happening because of human ignorance and the sad part is that we cant take it back and make it better unless we figure out how to rewind time. just last spring break i was able to go swimming on the beach ... this year it was hailing and it almost snowed......people who see that and try to say theres no global warming are dumb. I hate to say it cuz im all for the whole "go green'' thing but i honestly dont think anythin can help us now we are too far gone, for every person whos going green there are probally like 10 that arnt.....suxx
= (

Fear.

1.) I too have a sever fear of drowning. I hate the thought of not being able to breath and NOT having the option to call it quits and come back up for air. I can't imagine the feeling it would suck.
2.) Call me a baby but... I hate spiders. I'll scream like a little girl if the spider is big enough. but I will kill you.
3.) Falling off of something tall enough to hurt me. I always think of the worst thing that can happen to me when I am around things. Such as the fryer at KFC where I work, if I were to slip on some oil and fall in the fryer. Or if I were walking with a screwdriver and it somehow managed to slip past my guard and land in my eye.

I don't enjoy fears lol.

Golbal Warming

I believe that is the human activity is part of Global Warming because we are harming the earth with all of the waste that we create. We are ruining the ozone with all the chemicals that we use. I think that we should just keeping trying to cut back on all the plastic and everything else that is harming the earth. Besides the people i do feel that the climate is changing some. If you look at everything that has happened in the past then you will see that the climate will eventually change how long will it take? well no one knows.....

Cheating

Is cheating common? Of course it is. No matter what school you go to, be it highschool, college, or even elementary schools. Does it happen as often as they say it does? Well, we'd like to think not but it does. People cheat on tests and homework assignments every time they get a chance. It all depends on how they do it. 6 out of 10 seems like a lot of people but I think it is a little less. Perhaps 4 or 5 out of 10 but not 6 out of 10. That's a little extream in my mind.

stinkin cheaters.

Personally i think that it is beyond ridiculous. it might be easier than anything but that's just the problem. People now a days are too lazy and incompetent relying on others to do the hard work for them. If they actually put forth an effort and genuinely cared about their work then there would be no reason or excuse to cheat.

Cheating

That many people cheating is ridiculous. I think the article is right when it talks about that great number of students cheating on assignments and tests. Us as a society are becoming more and more lazy. We are always looking for a quick and easy way out. I don't think there ever is a good time or reason for cheating since the point of going to school in the first place is to learn and you don't learn when you cheat.

Global Warming

I believe that Global Warming is inevitable, the prevention of global warming is too severe. Desensitized modern society has tried to save too many lives through prevention rather than preparing to brace for it's impact through atmosphere chilling animal preservation parks and things like that.
Thousands of years ago we had a global warming followed by the Ice Age, wow what a wondrous conclusion! (for some reason my text will now be backgrounded by a yellow stripe ????)
If we prepare for the worst then we can focus on more important issues at hand, like saving lives and protecting those at risk from whatever else, or maybe even debt? Nooooooooo, not debt different things like tax cuts = ]

Cheating

honestly, i have to say this is ridiculous.  you shouldn't have that many people cheating.  and the argument in that article for it makes it worse.  People shouldn't just be innovative when they need to cheat.  as clever as the water bottle thing was, people should think like that about other things.  and i understand how people want to make things easier, but theres a difference between cheating because its easier then studying, and driving to work because its easier then walking.

Theres a sight called Life Hacker.  The original idea of this sight was things you do everyday that you could change to make things easier.  For example if you have 500 programs start when you turn on your computer, and it slows it down, you can go into the system configuration utility and make them stop starting then.  It was mostly computer stuff, but now has alot of non computer stuff, such as organising your shoes or whatever.  Its those things we need to think about, not how can i get away with this.

As for the other parts, i cant think of a time where cheating has had a poitive effect.  It would always be better to actually learn the stuff.

Global Warming.... =/

I do think that the climate is changing, and i do believe that is the human activity is part of the problem because we are hurting the earth with all of the waste that we create. We are killing the earth and ruining the ozone with all the chemicals that we are using and all of the chemicals that all of the cars that everyone has. So i think that we should just keeping trying to cut back on all the plastic and everything else that is hurting the earth..

New Topic April 5 - April 11

All right, you folks mostly didn't want to talk about global climate change -- doubleplus thanks to those who did post. Let's try something a little closer to home, shall we?

Read this article: Cheaterpants

Do you think cheating is as common as the article says? Or more common, or less? Do you agree that there can be a good side to cheating, or is it always bad? Can you think of a situation where cheating has had a positive effect? Or can you think of a situation where, hypothetically speaking, it would be a good idea to cheat? Or is cheating always, always bad, and if so, why?

Global warming

Is the earth's climate changing that much? It really depends on where you go. Like here for example, usually we have fairly mild winters with only a whole lot of rain and not a lot of snow. But this year we had a WHOLE lot of snow and only a little bit of rain. It seems like it's getting colder rather than warmer.
But, in Louisianna how ever it is getting warmer. You can tell that because there have been more huricanes in the last two years than in years past. So really if you think about it, it really does depend on where in the world you go.

Global Warming, Ho No!

I do believe in global warming and think that it is at least partially due to human activities. I mean how can we expect our world to stay the same when we keep drilling for oil, wasting electricity, messing with our water, dumping dangerous chemicals into our earth, and filling up land fills right and left. When all these things are going on how can we expect thing like global warming not to occur. I don't know exactly how global warming is going to affect me because hear in Oregon it seems to have the opposite affect, or at least that's how i feel. It seems to me that our winters are getting colder at least after this year. that was one of the biggest snow storms i had ever seen in Oregon at least. I think that we need to start using our alternative resources that i know we have.

There are so many things that we could be using right now if the oil companies weren't shoving all this oil at us telling us its the only way. Besides oil wont always be hear and so we need to prepare now for when its gone. We have so many petroleum products in the world today that if we were to run out of it tomorrow we would not know what to do. We need to find other resources to use. Not just energy but all of our petroleum products. We have gone with out it for hundreds of years. why do we need it now, can't we find something else to use that is less harmful to our world?

We also have a huge problem with wasting electricity. Trust me i do it to. But it seems to me that every summer California is complaining about lack of water and with this lack of water lack of electricity. I don't know if this helps with global warming But it certainly can't help. Plus we have several other alternatives of how we can get our electricity so we should use them instead of using water for so many things.

We are also putting way to many chemicals into our water, which can't be good for our environment. It also can't be good for us. Hears an example. My grandfather worked at a water cleaning facility where they used chlorine to clean the water and he got trapped down there before and later on he died from cancer. So I ask you if this isn't good for use how is it good for our environment?

We are also dumping lots of dangerous chemicals into our earth. Maybe not so much here in America but in other countries where we don't have all the same rules there are many things going into the ground lake rivers and oceans that are changing our environment.

We need to find an alternative to our landfills. the waste there doesn't really decay like it's supposed to. I've seen a newspaper from like 1960 or something like that that was in a land fill and it looked almost brand new. there has to be a better way to get rid of our trash than sticking it in a land fill where it might sit for decades before completely decomposing.

Global warming

Oh em gee! Global warming irl! Halp! I think people need somthing to be afraid, do you remeber when it used to be "OH EM GEE, RAINFORESTS ARE GONNA DISAPEAR IRL!" that's what we used to be afraid of, water maginfys the suns rays heating up the world just as much. KYOTO PROTOCOL.

Cell phones

I personally have unlimited texting, I think texting can be a posotive thing in the fact that it's easier to say what you're actually thinking rather if you were to say it in person, but I don't think it makes you less likley to comunicate with someone face to face. I don't think their should be cellphones to be used in class because it can be a distraction. =[ omg wtf dq bbq bff jill?

Gobal Warm- i mean Climate Change

its amazing how many people focus on this as much as they do. i mean, if your participating in earth hour, or trying to start recycling (good luck in Oregon), or anything like that, good job. but people need to realize that Al Gore is a politician. and recently he hasn't been doing anything, so to keep his face in the paper he brought up the whole global warming thing.

they dont even call it global warming anymore. my dad put it vary well when he said

"Now they are getting everyone upset about global warming. They ran into a problem with that though because 1. The last couple of years have been cooler than normal. 2. Some scientists have pointed out that the warmest years since we have kept records were in the 1940's 3. the earths temperature has dropped about 1/2 degree since the start of the industrial revolution. Solution: Now they are calling it "Climate change" That way if it is warmer or cooler, wetter or dryer than normal they can blame it on "climate change"."

and does anyone else think its starting to get ridiculous? i mean, there taxing cows for farting now, because the methane is a green house gas. does anyone realise water vapor is the number one green house gas? how about we start sending all out water to mars? they seem to need it, and its obviously making it to hot here. Or how about ethanol? last i heard Obama was pushing 15% ethanol in all gas. it actually ends up polluting the earth more and you get less gas mileage from it.

Then again, people need to be scared of something apparently.  Before this it was clear cutting would kill all our forest, and the ozone layer, and us running out of air because were cutting down the rain forest.  something new comes along, and people forget about the other stuff.

anyway, to the point, climate change is real, but its a natural thing, the earth go's through shifts where overall it gets warmer, then colder, then warmer again.  we probably have had some impact on it, but its so minimal, we shouldn't be putting nearly as big a focus on it as we are.

As for energy, i think we need to drill here in America for now, we got oil, more jobs here, and we DO have the oil its estimated we have 885.9 billion barrels of oil here in America.  If we drill here we can get alot of the oil we need (that means more money here=less debt).  while were doing that it gives us alot of time to research new technology's, or simply start using them, such as nuclear.  Because one day i can see us all driving fully electric cars, and getting that energy from wind, solor, wave, and nuclear plants.
